Assessment Tool: EAT-10

The EAT-10 is a validated patient-reported outcome measure for dysphagia severity. Have the patient rate each of the 10 swallowing-related items. A total score of 3 or above indicates a clinically significant swallowing problem and warrants speech-language pathology referral. Combine with objective bedside assessment (e.g., 3-oz Water Swallow Test) for clinical decision-making.
